NEW RELEASE! Killer Headline A Rachel Ryder Crime Thriller
NEW RELEASE! Killer Headline A Rachel Ryder Crime Thriller Some people will do anything to keep their secrets buried. Even murder.
I’m excited to announce the release of Killer Headline, the newest crime thriller featuring Detective Rachel Ryder!
If you’ve been following Rachel’s journey, you know she’s never been one to back down from a difficult case, challenge authority, or keep her opinions to herself. And this time, she’s investigating a murder that’s about to turn her small Georgia town upside down.
Layla Rowe made a career out of exposing other people’s secrets.
As the host of a popular whistleblower podcast, she publicly called out politicians, business owners, community leaders, and anyone else she believed had something to hide. She attracted a national audience, ruined reputations, and made plenty of enemies along the way.
Then someone put a bullet in her head.
When Layla’s body turns up inside her Ford Bronco in a grocery store parking lot, Detective Rachel Ryder and her partner, Rob Bishop, inherit one of the most high-profile murder investigations Hamby, Georgia, has ever seen.
And finding someone who wanted Layla dead? That’s the easy part.
The detectives quickly discover that the outspoken podcaster had nearly three hundred potential enemies. Her home and recording studio have been ransacked, her electronic files destroyed, and evidence suggests someone desperately wanted to prevent her next podcast episode from reaching the public.
That episode involved allegations of backroom deals, government contracts, and the misuse of public funds.
With reporters descending on Hamby and political pressure mounting to solve the murder, Rachel and Bishop must separate legitimate suspects from people who simply hated what Layla had to say.
But the closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous the investigation becomes.
Someone has gone to extraordinary lengths to cover their tracks, and Rachel isn’t dealing with an ordinary killer. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Rachel Ryder thriller without Rachel dealing with a few personal complications.
Although she’s back on the job, Rachel continues to struggle with the aftermath of a terrifying experience that nearly cost her life.
She’s determined to move forward, but nightmares and an upcoming criminal trial make forgetting the past impossible.
Fortunately, she still has Bishop at her side, complete with his dry humor, unsolicited advice, and uncanny ability to know when she’s hiding something.
Their relationship remains one of my favorite parts of writing this series. They argue, tease each other, and occasionally drive each other crazy, but when things get dangerous, there’s nobody Rachel trusts more.
And believe me, things get dangerous.
One of the things I enjoyed most about writing Killer Headline was exploring how easily public opinion can turn against someone, especially when social media gives everyone a platform.
Layla Rowe wasn’t particularly well-liked, but did that mean she deserved to die? Absolutely not.
And just because someone makes accusations publicly doesn’t necessarily mean they’re telling the truth.
Rachel must navigate conflicting stories, questionable motives, political influence, and people who have a lot to lose if their secrets come out.
This book has the elements I love writing into a crime thriller: a complicated murder investigation, plenty of suspects, unexpected twists, sharp dialogue, and a detective who refuses to quit, even when doing the right thing puts her in danger. I
f you enjoy crime thrillers featuring strong female detectives, police investigations, political corruption, suspense, and characters who feel like old friends, I hope you’ll give Killer Headline a read.
Whether you’ve followed Rachel Ryder from the beginning or you’re just discovering her, there’s plenty of mystery, danger, and Rachel’s signature attitude waiting for you.
