This website, carolynridderaspenson.com, is owned and operated by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. The short version: the site itself collects very little, I don't sell anything about you, and you can ask me to delete what I have at any time.
Newsletter signups. There are no signup forms on this site. When you click a newsletter or free-book button, you go to BookFunnel or BookHip, where you enter your email address and, optionally, your name. Your address is then kept by my email service provider, MailerLite, which sends my newsletters on my behalf. I use it for release news, sales, free books, and occasional updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from that list immediately.
Email. If you write to me at carolyn@carolynridderaspenson.com, I keep your message so I can reply. I don't add you to any list because you emailed me.
Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how they found the site. Google sets cookies to do this and collects information such as your approximate location, browser, device, and the pages you view. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. I see totals and trends, not individual visitors. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Server logs. The site is hosted by Netlify, which automatically records standard technical information, such as IP address, browser, and time of visit, for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies. The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics cookies. There are no advertising cookies, no logins, and no comment system.
Book links go to Amazon, Audible, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers, sometimes through link services such as geni.us and Books2Read that send you to your local store. Newsletter and free-book links go to BookFunnel and BookHip. Links in my emails pass through MailerLite. Social links go to Facebook, Instagram, and Patreon. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and once you leave this site, theirs apply. Some retailer links may be affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission on purchases at no cost to you. That doesn't change what information those sites collect.
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you. Email correspondence is kept as long as it's useful for replying to you. Google Analytics data is kept for the period set in my Google Analytics account and then deleted automatically.
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data. Email me and I'll handle it.
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has signed up for a list, email me and I'll remove them.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
