Murder in the Mirror

At Echoes Antique Shop on Mill Street, Clara appraises estate silver, haggles with dealers, and keeps Barnaby, the cat who adopted her, off the good furniture.

She also keeps a secret.

When Clara touches an object with her bare hands, she glimpses ten seconds of its past, one moment, chosen by the object itself, never to be repeated. It's a gift she's learned to hide, until a gilded mirror from the Covington estate shows her something no appraisal ever could: the final moments of a murder.

Julian Covington, a member of the wealthy Covington family, was one of the town's most prominent citizens, and his death has Whispering Falls buzzing louder than the church social. The suspects range from a grasping rival dealer to the dead man's own family, and handsome Detective Nathan Cross wants answers Clara can't explain, especially once the murder weapon is traced straight back to her own shop.

With her reputation on the line, her best friend Penny supplying gossip and fresh scones in equal measure, and a killer watching her every move, Clara must rely on the echoes of the antique's past to catch a murderer, before she becomes a reflection of the victim herself.
