We're Back From Our Cruise

Hello!

We’re back from our cruise and in the thick of it again. Work, dogs, cat, cleaning, work, dogs, cat, cleaning…structure is good, except I’m tired of the cleaning!

We had a great time, and the trip was a well-deserved break. Given the sheer panic created by the pending winter storm of 2026, we opted not to stay an additional day in San Juan and instead, spent it in the San Juan airport waiting for our flight to arrive from Atlanta so we could return to the frozen tundra.

All that hype about the storm being one of the worst to hit our town, and the 1+ inches of ice we were getting turned out to be a big nothing. I’m certainly not complaining, but it would have been nice to have that extra day in San Juan after all.

I’ve never been a heat person. I’ve never liked lying in the sun, nor have I been a big fan of heat, so I was a little hesitant about this trip. BUT…I learned something! (Never too old, right?) It’s not the heat I don’t like, it’s the humidity. The Caribbean had no humidity, and I wasn’t even remotely bothered by the heat.

Arizona is looking pretty good right now!

Coming back to 7-degree weather wasn’t all that fun. I didn’t think it would hit me like it has, but it’s been disheartening. I’ve mentioned an Airbnb in phoenix and bringing the pets multiple times, but the hubby isn’t going for it.  He’s mumbling about budgets and retirement and silly things like that. Go figure.

Hit Me With Your Best Hex is releasing on January 31st. It’s a fun book, and I think people will like it. I just finished Ghosts, Ghouls, and Guilty, the next Chantilly Adair book, which is now with the editor. I’m hoping it’ll come out in late March, but it might not be until April. In the meantime, I’ll be releasing a soon-to-be-titled Abby novella and possibly an Angela one as well just to remind you all I’m still here! I’ll keep you posted on that! The Abby novella will be in Cooper’s POV, and the Angela one in Fran’s, which I think is fun, so I’m excited to get them on the schedule.

Until then, stay warm and healthy!
Carolyn

PS: The dogs had a great vacation as well. They slept in bed with the sitters. I don’t know how they did that and could walk the next day. Sam must keep his head on your body, and Allie grows 6 feet when she sleeps. They came home and looked hurt when they had to sleep on their My Pillow beds wrapped in blankets. We are horrible parents.
