Ten Things I Love About Fall

Ten Things I Love About Fall

Ah, fall. The crisp, chilled morning air, the soft, crunch of red, gold and yellow leaves under my boots, the smell of burning leaves tickling my nose. I love fall. Each of my senses is titillated with something that takes me back to my childhood, to cool nights by the pile of leaves I’d spent the day raking with my father, to steaming cups of hot cocoa and conversations with my momI can’t go back to those days, but I do share their stories with my family and friends, and I’d like to share with you the ten things I love about fall — in no particular order because I can’t decide which I love best.

Ten Things I Love About Fall

1. Cool Nights by the Bonfire

There is nothing better smelling than a pile of burning leaves. The memories, both old and new, of family and friends bonding in front of the fire are irreplaceable.

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes

The first sip, filled with the coolness of the creamy whipped cream combined with the sweet, warm pumpkin flavored espresso practically sends shivers down my spine, it’s so good.

3. Sweaters sweater-1222876_1920

A big, fluffy, warm sweater. The sleeves need to be just a touch too long so I can wrap my fingers up in them if I get cold. Let’s be honest though, I’m post-menopausal and rarely do I get cold! Still, a sweater is the perfect cover for the early Atlanta mornings when it’s only 40 degrees out.

4. Boots, Boots and More Boots

I might have a boot fetish. Cowboy boots, riding boots, Timberlands. It doesn’t matter. I love a good boot, and now that we’ve got leg warmers back, er uh, I mean boot socks or whatever they’re calling them these days, wearing boots is all the more fun.

5. Comfort Food

Chicken pot pies, homemade soups, anything made in a crockpot…really, what’s not to love?

6. All Things Pumpkin

Gosh, I love pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin dip, pumpkin dump cake. From decorations to food, pumpkin IS fall. The day I see pumpkins at the grocery store, I get giddy, knowing I’ve got instant decorating options as well as an additional 10 pounds under those sweaters I love to wear.

7. Fall-scented Candles

My favorites are from Yankee Candle. Fall Harvest and Spiced Pumpkin are to die for.

8. The Leaves

The colors are breathtaking. Golds, reds, yellows, browns, on the ground or in the trees they’re like a blanket of beautiful covering everything. I just love them.

9. Hallmark Christmas Movies

Okay, so call me a cheesy romantic but I can’t help myself. In today’s world where crime and bad stuff are the norm, a little light-hearted romance is perfect. Snuggled with the puppies and a cozy throw is the best way to watch romance, by the way. Oh, and the Hallmark schedule starts October 28th if you didn’t notice from the photo.

10. This Guy’s Body Temperature

My husband is hot. And I don’t just mean hot as in attractive, I mean body temperature, too. The summers can be tough…he touches me and lights a fire against my skin. And I don’t mean in a sexual way, unfortunately (though he can most certainly do that, too!) I mean literally. He’s so hot it’s almost irritating but during the fall, his temperature is a welcomed, free heater. We can snuggle endlessly and i won’t melt or fry, nor do I need a bucket of ice to cool off.

Well, that’s it, my top ten things I love about fall. What are your favorite things about the season? Maybe you like reading a good cozy mystery by the fire or reading blog posts by self-published authors like me? You know, the ones that rarely blog. (wink, wink!) Leave me a comment and let me know!
