I was a big fan of Evanovich and Stephanie Plum up until about book 11 in the series. For me, things went flat…the writing, the characters…the storylines. As the numbers progressed, nothing changed. The characters didn’t grow, the sexual tension didn’t intensify, nor was a partner decision ever made by Stephanie, and the story appeared to be written in some standard formula—a big writer no-no. I hadn’t quite given up on the series though, and made it to Tricky Twenty-Two, but now I’m done.
I am by no means a photographer. Photography takes a special kind of eye, one that sees things others can’t but gives them a glimpse into something special. I don’t exactly have that, though I like to pretend I do.
Sometimes things just don’t go as planned.
I love, love, love a good book about female relationships. I do. Lately, though, I’ve struggled to find one that drew me in, that hooked me. You know what I mean, right? The kind of book that brings you into the story, makes you feel like a fly on the wall, a part of it all, in it.
Maybe it’s my editing clients or the fact that I spend a lot of time writing. I don’t know, but whatever the reason, I just haven’t found a female oriented book I love. So when my best friend suggested I read Kristin Hannah’s Firefly Lane, I decided to give it a shot. She’s always read things I’ve liked, so I thought for sure I’d love it.
Only, I didn’t. And honestly, I’m really bummed about that, too.

Ah, fall. The crisp, chilled morning air, the soft, crunch of red, gold and yellow leaves under my boots, the smell of burning leaves tickling my nose. I love fall. Each of my senses is titillated with something that takes me back to my childhood, to cool nights by the pile of leaves I’d spent the day raking with my father, to steaming cups of hot cocoa and conversations with my momI can’t go back to those days, but I do share their stories with my family and friends, and I’d like to share with you the ten things I love about fall — in no particular order because I can’t decide which I love best.
Turning 50 is a whole lot easier than turning 40!
Every year I make a list of resolutions, the kind that require hard work and commitment. Lose Weight. Give up sugar forever, write five best-selling books You know, the impossible to achieve ones, at least for me, and I end up making myself miserable. I’m a Type A gal and I hate to fail, but it seems I set myself up for it every January 1st. This year, however, I’m dumping the hard resolutions and replacing them with ones that guarantee success.
In the spirit of living life to the fullest (because I’m now 50 and isn’t it time?) I’ve put together a list of 10 Anti-New Years Resolutions I’m certain to execute. They’re such fabulous resolutions I’ve decided to share them with you, confident you’ll find success too. Continue reading
Looking for freebies and a little fun? I could definitely use the help!
Below is the 411 on the team, how you’ll be helping and what to expect.
WHAT IS A STREET TEAM?
A street team is a group of readers interested in helping spread the news about my books. You do this by sharing news, teasers and ‘buy links’ on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram or whatever social media channel you use on a regular basis.
My team communicates through a closed Facebook group, so you’ll need to have a Facebook account. We have a lot of fun in there – I often post excerpts, giveaways and insights into what inspires me, what I’m working on and other fun stuff.
In addition to Facebook, there are other social media accounts that would helpful to have: Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, Goodreads, Tumblr, etc.
You can join my street team page here:

As a member of my street team, please join my newsletter and please beg, plead and beat others to do the same! I don’t send it out often, maybe a few times a year. That being said, I’m happy to have input on what you’d like to see in a newsletter, too! You can join my newsletter here.
- Read, Review, Repeat!
The most important way members of my team can help is by reading and reviewing my books. As a member of the street team, you will receive Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) before the book is released. I ask that you read it then and leave a review as soon as possible. If on preorder, you may leave it right away. If not, the first day of release is a wonderful time to post. All ARCs are given with the understanding that you have received it in exchange for an honest review and we ask that you state that clearly in your review. Emphasis is on the word ‘honest’, of course, but also try and be specific if there are things you particularly liked or didn’t like, as it helps future readers decide whether or not this is the book for them.
What Happens in the Street Team, Stays in the Street Team!
Please remember that anything shared within the group is confidential.
As a member of the team, you’ll not only receive an electronic edition of the books before they’re available to the public but also gain special access to some fun and free stuff. I’ll be doing giveaways (of other things besides my books, of course!) for the team as well as blogs and others who are willing to help me get the word out about my books.
So what are you waiting for? Send an email to me at email@example.com with your name, email address, and a brief explanation as to why you want to join Team Author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Those selected will be notified via email.Thank you in advance for your help in getting the word out about my books. Your support is greatly appreciated!

In UNFINISHED BUSINESS AN ANGELA PANTHER MYSTERY, #1 AMAZON bestselling author Carolyn Ridder Aspenson introduces her now trademark blend of witty dialog and laugh out loud banter in the first book of her hilarious and heartwarming paranormal chick lit, women’s sleuth mystery series, the Angela Panther Mystery series.
Stay at home wife and mother Angela Panther has a gift: she can talk to the dead.
She just doesn’t know it. Yet.
Long suppressed and forgotten, her gift resurfaces with the death of her mother. Angela considers it a curse, preferring to spend her life with the living, not dealing with the unfinished business of the dead.
But the dead, they couldn’t care less.
They know she can resolve their unfinished business, and when they need help, it’s Angela they haunt.
As Angela reluctantly obliges the dead, her mother stays earthbound, refusing to go until her own unfinished business is handled; business she won’t discuss with her daughter.
Business that involves Angela.
Can Angela discover the truth behind her mother’s decision to stay, and if she does, will her heart survive?

“What a fantastic read! I couldn’t put it down! I had to keep reading just to see what twist life was going throw out at Angela next!” —Chicklit Plus
“The author has a great sense of humor, even about death, but when the story called for it, she was reverent and empathetic in the way her characters handled each other.” —Caroline Fardig, Best selling Author
